Sonny Angel dolls are collectible angel mini figures created by Toru Soeya at Dreams Inc. in Japan. Originally designed as small companions who “watch over you”, they’ve become cult favourites among Australian and New Zealand collectors. Inspired by the classic Kewpie doll, each Sonny Angel features a knowing expression, tiny wings and headgear themed to each series. That’s usually where their outfits stop - keeping them true to their cherub roots.

Sonny Angel blind boxes come in four main types: Regular (10 series to collect), Gift (3 series), Hippers (4 series), plus limited editions - only released for short periods, in small quantities.

Only buy from stores like Blink Box, who are authorised stockists in Australia and New Zealand. The only way to be guarantee authentic Sonny Angel products made by Dreams Inc. in Japan, is purchasing through official retailers.

While buying from official sources is always the best way to tell, it helps to know that the outer Sonny Angel box always comes wrapped in plastic (don’t worry if yours isn’t perfect - it’s heat sealed to keep your Sonny Angel secure). Inside, you should find a small information booklet, and a sealed foil bag, with your Sonny Angel figure inside. If you’re planning to swap, trade or resell, it’s best to keep your packaging.
